Nigeria's first lady answers present at the 3rd Women Leaders Forum



The first lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari, is in Bujumbura for the 3rd edition of the high-level Women Leaders Forum. She and her delegation was received on October 11th 2022 by Burundi's first Lady, Angeline Ndayishimiye


The three-day event hosted by Her Excellency Angeline Ndayishimiye will address issues of Health and Nutrition for Women, children, Newborns and Adolescents.



Organised by the Organization of 1st Ladies of Africa for Development, this 3rd edition of the high-level Women Leaders Forum is attended by former First Lady of Tanzania, Salma Kikwete, as well as delegates from the First Ladies of Equatorial Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), South Sudan and Nigeria.


Aisha Buhari who is also the President of the Africa First Ladies Peace Mission said she was pleased with the warm welcome accorded to her and her delegation, noting that it was her first-ever visit to the East Africa region and Burundi in particular.



Speaking during her opening speech, the Burundian first lady, who doubles as chairperson of the Office of the First Lady for Development in Burundi (OPDD-Burundi), thanked foreign delegates that have rallied their support in the domain of health and nutrition in Burundi.


Her Excellency Mrs Ndayishimiye also indicated that her organization (OPDD-Burundi) will spare no effort to support the Burundian government to address the health and nutrition of women and children in the country, while inviting her fellow First Ladies of African countries to follow in the same direction.
