Founder of Telegram channel supporting neo-Nazi gang taken into custody in Moscow

Moscow’s Preobrazhensky District Court has ruled that Dmitry Sotnikov, charged with public calls for terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism and propaganda of terrorism through a channel on the Telegram messaging app, should be taken into custody for supporting the Ukraine-based MKU neo-Nazi gang, court spokesperson Alisa Zakutnyaya said in a statement.

"The Preobrazhensky District Court hereby upholds the investigation’s request that Dmitry Sotnikov, charged under Article 205.2.2 of the Russian Criminal Code (public calls for terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism and propaganda of terrorism through media outlets or digital communication means, including the Internet) be taken into custody," she pointed out.

The decision has not yet entered into force and may be appealed.
