FIFA pays tribute to Paul Biya for outstanding infrastructure



During his visit to Cameroon, where he took part in the opening of the African Nations Championship (CHAN), Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation Governing Association Football  (FIFA) has praised the quality of sports infrastructure put in place by Cameroon.


"Despite the economic and health crises, Cameroon has been able to develop an exceptional infrastructural program"  for the organization of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) and the African Cup of Nations (CAN), he declared.



Gianni Infantino made the remarks after meeting with Cameroon head of state in Yaounde, on the eve of the competition. Before Gianni Infantino's remarks, CHAN's infrastructure had already been praised by the President of the African Football Confederation (CAF), Constant Omari. An opinion based on the report of the last infrastructure inspection visit to (Stadiums, training grounds and hotels) which took place in October 2020 in Cameroon. Two of the four stadiums hosting matches of the 2020 CHAN Total African Nations Championship have been built in recent years and the older two have been given a facelift. The opportunity for players to play in the best conditions and for authorized spectators, to attend matches in maximum comfort. In all, 16 African national teams are participating in the sixth edition of the African Nations Championship, a biennial competition reserved for players playing in their respective national championships.
