MRC planned insurrection : Fru Ndi tells Maurice Kamto ‘the sdf will not join you’

The Social Democrtic Front (SDF) party led by Ni John Fru Ndi has distanced itself from the insurrection call made by Maurice Kamto. The leader of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement party (MRC) had said he is mobilizing a streets protest on September 22 in a possible coup to take over power.

Speaking during an interview granted to Afrique Media Television, Fru Ndi said his party, the SDF was formed to bring Cameroon together and not to destabilize nor cause division. He stated categorically that if the MRC intends to go to the streets, they should go but be ready to face the consequences, noting that “the SDF is not prepared to join them’’. It should be noted that Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji warned recently that a life jail term hangs over any politician who disrupts the upcoming Regional elections in the country. Consequently, the government has swung into action by banning unauthorized public manifestations. This is aimed at preventing further destabilization attempt in a country which is already struggling to curb a sociopolitical crisis in the North West and South West regions, a Boko Haram insurgency in the Nord of the country, the Covid-19 pandemic and recent flood disasters in certain parts of the national territory. The Bans have been issued by the authorities of the Central and Littoral regions as defaulters of the said administrative decisions will face the heavy arm of the law.

The Crisis In The Nw/Sw Region

Speaking during the live interview, the national chairman of the Social Democratic Front Ni John Fru Ndi also called on separatists in the NW/SW regions as well as their leaders based abroad to allow children to go to school as the nation prepares to open school come October. He noted sadly that while the leaders of the separatist moving are eating fat from the crisis and sending their children to school in different towns and out of the country, the local population has been left to pay the price. The same civilians who have been brutally killed by the so-called Ambazonian fighters in these two regions in recent times.
